I've been a health journalist for 20 years now. My features and analysis appear in The Times's health supplement Body & Soul every week, and I've written for The Times for the past six years. At the same time, I'm working with various professional, statutory and voluntary organisations on information for patients and professionals.
My work on patient information booklets on cancer, back pain and arthritis with
the BBC and voluntary bodies won me awards from the Campaign for Plain English
and the British Medical Association. I'm the Chair of the Guild of Health Writers. This year Body & Soul, of which I am the Medical Editor, won a Patients Association Award for the best health information publication.
I was shortlisted for feature of the year, and also news story of the year, in the Medical Journalist Association awards 2005.
